West Ham were handed a brutal start to the season with their fixture list but David Moyes has steered his side, virtually and on the touchline, to eight points from their first six games and that’s not bad going. Wins against Wolves and Leicester have been followed by draws with Spurs and Man City as West Ham sit in the top ten in the early stages of the Premier League season. There is a long way to go but it is a solid foundation to build on. That solid foundation has started building some resilience into this team, some battling qualities, and that has shown up in spades over the past two games especially. Fabianski hasn’t come under fire this season, or after lockdown, for his performances but there was the sense that he might have been on the wane. The keeper is out of contract at the end of the campaign, he has an option for another year, but there were rumours the club could look elsewhere.

David Moyes said “He is part of the team and you need your goalkeeper, especially against quality sides, you need him to make saves when the defenders have not quite got there and you need him. Thankfully there were a couple of moments where he done it but we expect it, he is a good keeper and for us to be successful we need those moments.”
