#PremierLeagueStories – GoalKeeping Crisis at Newcastle as #SteveBruce provides #KarlDarlow update #NUFC

Steve Bruce is facing up to a Newcastle United goalkeeping crisis ahead of their game with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
Karl Darlow is a major doubt for the game after taking a whack in last weekend’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester United, while Bruce’s number one Martin Dubravka is out until December.
Darlow is set to be given until Sunday morning to prove his fitness for the match at Molineux with third choice goalkeeper Mark Gillespie waiting to deputise.
Former Walsall goalkeeper Gillespie, 28, has played three times for Newcastle in the Carabao Cup this season and kept clean sheets in wins over Blackburn and Morecambe.

Asked for an update on Darlow at his press conference on Friday morning, Bruce said: “He is still sore. He has made a huge improvement from Saturday night. We will take it to the wire and see how he is. It is an impact. It is in a very sore region. He took an awful knock.
“We will see how fit he is in 48 hours. He has done fantastically well and waited patiently for his chance.
“He was thrown into it after Martin’s injury. We hope, hope he can make it. We’ll wait and see.
“Mark is ready. That’s why we brought him here. It looks a good shout now. He has played in the SPL for 4-5 years and he’ll be fine if called on.”

Back-to-back wins over Fulham and Leeds United have moved Wolves up to sixth in the early standings, two points ahead of Newcastle who sit 13th.
Bruce added: “They are a very good side, they finished seventh and we know what to expect.”
Both of the matches between Wolves and Newcastle last season ended all square with Leander Dendoncker netting an equaliser at Molineux in January after Miguel Almiron had given the visitors the lead.
