Steve Bruce has revealed he expects to get at least one piece of incoming business done before the transfer deadline arrives tomorrow but also admitted that it would take something “mouth watering” for him to dip into the transfer market. Bruce was asked what business, if any, we can expect from Newcastle. The Magpies have a medical in place for Peruvian youngster Rodrigo Vilca with Bruce ready to welcome him to Tyneside and roll out a development plan. Bruce stated he expects no major cash signings on deadline day but says that loans are still possible depending on outgoing deals with Christian Atsu, wanted by Watford, Henri Saivet, Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar all in the exit zone.

Steve Bruce said “The young Peruvian player, we hope, will be arriving. He’ll be for the Academy to start with, that’s for sure, so he’s not really going to be involved with the first team. I don’t think I’ll be jumping into the market (for anyone) unless something mouthwatering comes along which really makes us want to. It’s a difficult one. We’re trying to find a balance and what’s right and what’s wrong, Ideally, he (Ryan Fraser) would need a pre-season with six weeks of intensive work and five, six friendlies. We’ve had to get them in the cup competitions with him, so I expect him to get better. We hope Scotland treat him with the respect that he deserves because he hasn’t played a lot, and I’m sure they will.”
