Slaven Bilic’s transfer message hasn’t been altered by West Brom’s worrying performance and defeat at Southampton – he still expects a new striker and has called for backing. Albion were well beaten in all areas of the pitch by the sharp Saints, who secured victory with goals from Moussa Djenepo and Oriol Romeu. Albion now have two weeks without a league game as the Premier League takes a break for the international calendar, and in that time comes two separate transfer deadlines.

Slaven Bilic said “We’ll see. My mind is still in this game, Nothing has changed in that aspect, what I said after the Chelsea game. We have to bring somebody in. The first half was very, very flat from our point of view, the way we performed. We were not aggressive enough. We didn’t close them down, we gave them time almost everywhere, I’m very disappointed with the result, but we must improve everywhere. We can talk about things, but this was simply not good enough  – in every aspect of the game, they were better. You can see it’s happening. You try to change it, you can’t go back. Everything starts with determination, aggression, running, timing your running. Anticipating the situation, anticipating the pass when you’re defending. It was absolutely lacking, especially in the first half. When your goalkeeper is the best player, and you lose the game 2-0, that is not good.”
