#PLStories – #OleGunnarSolskjaer keeps Manchester United fans guessing on #DeanHenderson or #DavidDeGea as first team goalkeeper #MUFC

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised Dean Henderson after the 23-year-old made his debut for Manchester United in the win against Luton. Solskjaer highlighted that United goalkeepers will regularly be asked to make such saves after a quiet game and praised the debutant’s display.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer  said “Well, going through is the big thing. There are some positives, the keeper [Dean Henderson] does his job, we scored some nice goals towards the end, apart from that it was a good workout. That is probably the job our keepers sometimes have to do, you have to make saves when needed and David [de Gea] has done that for years and Dean did that today. The goalkeeping department and training level has been really high, of course, you can see driven and dedicated people and I’ve enjoyed watching them. Dean in goal, good save, you can see he’s having to concentrate and it’s a different job to what he’s done a few times last season and he came up with the save when he had to.”

Henderson returned to United this summer following an impressive two-year loan spell at Sheffield United and will challenge David de Gea for the No.1 jersey at Old Trafford. Solskjaer opted to use De Gea for the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace with Henderson forced to settle for a place on the bench. The England international was barely tested against Luton but showed his class with a fine stop to keep United ahead late in the second half, with Eric Bailly helping his teammate out with a goal-line clearance.
