Chris Wilder says he may have to change his phone number after being inundated by ‘chancers’ and agents looking to use Sheffield United to earn their player a move. The Blades boss says he has had to field some ridiculous calls as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the coming campaign, which kicks off in eight days’ time at home to Wolves. He has already completed deals for Wes Foderingham and Aaron Ramsdale and has tied both Phil Jagielka and Jack Rodwell down to another year.
Chris Wilder said “I would say 23 is a tenth of the ones that I have had, The latest ones that I have had are Diego Costa, I have had Suarez as well – ‘I can get you Suarez out of Barcelona for nothing’ – some of the names have been quite interesting. There’s a lot of chancers out there trying to make a couple of quid and then there are your more established agencies. It does put a smile on your face every now and again when you get linked or they send through the mandates that they have for certain players. I think I should change my number from the one I have had for the past 25 years.”
