Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder believes he is not far away from announcing some new Sheffield United players after admitting his transfer business has ‘ramped up’ in the last 24 hours. The Blades boss earlier watched his side continue their unbeaten pre-season with a 2-2 draw at home to Preston and he is now turning his attention to finalizing his squad for the coming season. He revealed after the Derby friendly on Tuesday that he wants to sign five new players and was hoping to see some of those targets in a United shirt next week following the international break.
Chris Wilder said “It’s ramped up over the last 24 hours, There’s been bids in for various players. It’s left with the clubs now. We are not going with false bids, we have to go through a process. It goes from identifying to talking and seeing if they are available and then going to the board to make bids and purchase the players. So there are bids in and we shall see some movement in the next two to three days. That’s for two or three players but there’s a couple on loan as well. We have an opportunity to get two English loans in, which we will do and there’s still the foreign loan market as well. We are looking at five players. That’s what I have told the board we need. We need competition for places. I think it will be a crazy rush to get players in for the start of the season but if we don’t I think we will still be in decent nick. I don’t want to stand still, we need to add and I don’t think the board want to stand still. They have backed me.”
