Kyle Walker insists he will be the first to volunteer to go in goal again if the situation arises in Manchester City’s Champions League campaign and looks ahead to the challenge of facing a Lyon side that has already beaten Juventus and eyeing for a historic Champions League semi-final spot for themselves. Walker famously enjoyed a ten-minute spell in goal for City in their group stage draw at the San Siro against Atalanta following Claudio Bravo’s red card. His clean sheet against the Italian side meant he was the only goalkeeper to stop Atalanta from scoring in their entire run to the quarter-finals.

Kyle Walker said “I haven’t [brought his gloves], I have left them at home, The ones that I took from Claudio at the San Siro are signed by Claudio, and in my house. I have left them at home but I am sure we have more than enough ‘keepers here to cover. If called upon again, I am sure I will be the first one to put my hand up. I am not a player that looks into the future, Obviously, I have dreams of playing in the Champions League final and lifting the trophy. For me, we have got an important game against Lyon and it would be disrespectful of me to look past that. We all have a job to do here and Lyon is hereby merit and has beaten Juventus. If we can get to the final and win it then fantastic but I can assure you, me personally, I only think about the next game that is coming up and after that, I will think about the next one. I think if you had asked me two years ago when I signed here I would have probably said that the Premier League was the big one for me having not won it before I came here. Now I have collected two of them and a number of others and this is the one that I want, and I can probably speak on behalf of the whole squad and Manchester City as well for what they need as a Club to put them onto that next pedestal.”
