#PremierLeagueStories – #PepGuardiola says it is ridiculous when players admit they want to win the Ballon d’Or #MCFC

Pep Guardiola’s teams have won a lot of silverware during his managerial career but he is not someone who is too interested in the individual records that his players rack up. He was recently asked about Raheem Sterling’s total goal tally for the season and how he could have overtaken Jamie Vardy in the league. But the Manchester City manager made it clear that he was not interested in personal accolades that his players got and he only remembers the fact that they were far behind Liverpool in the table, in terms of the points.

Pep Guardiola said “It’s important for Raheem to score a goal but we cannot forget we finished far away from the champions so this season was not good for us in the Premier League, have the commitment to score goals, I like it, I cannot say anything else. But Raheem has to know like all of us have to know that we were far away from Liverpool. To see the team, the team spirit, to play better and better, the players know they depend on their team-mates, not their own performance, If the goalkeepers make a good performance it’s not for the keepers it’s for the team, if we score goals it’s not for the strikers it’s for the team, and that is what is important. When I hear so many times ‘I always dream of winning the Golden Ball, the Ballon d’Or’, this kind of things, that is ridiculous. It makes no sense. Win the titles, make the people happy.”
