Former Leicester City manager Martin O’Neill believes the Foxes will still finish in the top four despite the club’s recent disappointing form. Brendan Rodgers’ team have struggled since the Premier League’s resumption – winning just one out of their last seven matches. Before the season was paused due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Foxes were in third place, five points in front of Chelsea, who are now above them, and eight ahead of United. But following Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Southampton, Leicester is now just ahead of United on goal difference in the fourth spot.
Martin O’Neill said “Yeah (can Leicester make the top 4?). Before the restart, you would’ve said that the gap in terms of points, which can disappear overnight, put them in a really strong position. But losing to Bournemouth was a really big disappointment. Losing the centre-back for the last few games is a big blow. They can overcome these blows. They can still make it. It will be really exciting to see who clinches those spots.”
