Bournemouth playmaker David Brooks said staying relaxed helped him prepare for Premier League showdowns and added: “It’s a benefit that I don’t get nervous or overthink things.” The Wales international also revealed doing a word search in the club programme before kick-off had also become something to ease his mind.
David Brooks said “We’ve a sports psychologist at Bournemouth and he’s in there before the games. He can’t believe how chilled I am. I turn up and I’m probably the last one to get changed, the last one to go warm up. That’s the way I am. I think whatever will be, will be. You get players who worry and others who like to get psyched up differently. But I don’t do anything special. I sit down. I chill out. I’ll read the programme, do the word search in there and chill until I have to go out to warm up. I don’t think it helps me in everyday life, the way I’m laid back. But on the football pitch it’s a benefit that I don’t get nervous or overthink things. I do like watching my old clips of me playing and scoring goals, It refreshes the memory on what you can do and what you can get back to doing.”
