Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says the Coronavirus-enforced lockdown period has benefitted young striker Mason Greenwood. The 18-year-old, who signed a long-term contract with the Reds earlier this season, has become a regular in the first-team squad this term and has impressed when given an opportunity. The arrival of Odion Ighalo in January has restricted his game time – Greenwood has started just once since January – but Solskjaer is encouraged by the youngster’s physical development, especially over the last three months. Solskjaer also spoke about Pogba’s fitness and his plans to integrate the Frenchman back into the squad.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said “Mason is a young boy, He is still 18 and in this lockdown period has done him all the good in the world because, at his age, they do develop and fill out and Mason’s looking more and more like a man, so it will definitely help him. Of course, Paul has had his difficult season this year with loads of injuries but I can see his mentality and focus now that he is fit and training and available, that he is ready to play again and to prove [himself]. He’s always had quality, Paul. He is one of the best midfielders in the world so hopefully we can get him going as soon as possible.”
