Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent believes that West Ham should try and convince Jonjo Shelvey to come to London and that Shelvey and Declan Rice would make an ideal midfield pairing. They have been reports that West Ham have been tracking Shelvey for the last two summers but failed to convince Newcastle to sell on both occasions. Now, however, West Ham is set to ignite their interest for a third successive year.
Darren Bent said “We all know already he’s got all the attributes and all the ability but for whatever reason, you’d have to say over the last couple of seasons he’s stuttered a little bit in his progress, He’s someone who’s got a bit of bite about him but he’s also got the quality on the ball and he can run around. If you’re talking about someone like him and Declan Rice in the middle of the park, that’s not a bad combination, I quite like the sound of that.”
