Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood believes Harry Kane will know “very soon” whether to stay at the club or push for a move away. Kane warned Spurs last month that if they fail to meet his ambitions surrounding major trophies, then he would not stay “for the sake of it”.

Tim Sherwood said “It’s like Alan Shearer. He finishes fourth with Blackburn (1992/93), then second (1993/94). Manchester United are all over him. But he decides to stay, because he believes we have the quality to win it, and we did the next season. Harry needs to assess this himself. I would wait to see what they do in the summer. They’ve got a manager who has not gone there to only finish inside the top four. Harry will know very soon if the club are willing to spend that money to give themselves that opportunity of winning the league.”

Former Tottenham star Gareth Bale has revealed why he could not have turned down the opportunity to join Real Madrid in 2013. The Welshman had a sublime 2012/13 season for Spurs – scoring 26 goals and providing 15 assists in all competitions – and earned a move to perhaps the biggest club in world football.  Opening up on his time at Spurs and revealing why he made the decision to leave, Bale told the Hat-Trick Podcast: “I loved my time at Tottenham, the fans were incredible, the club treated me amazingly.

Gareth Bale said  “I was enjoying it but when one of the biggest clubs in the world comes after you, you want to take that opportunity. Tottenham were progressing, the start of trying to get to the next level which we did. Then it took them a few years to get to the next level. Tottenham have kept growing which is fantastic to see, they’re still growing with a new training ground, new stadium and getting to the Champions League final.”

Sherwood handed Kane his Spurs debut in 2013, but is yet to win any major silverware at the north London side.
