Loris Karius has not left Besiktas amid speculation linking the Liverpool goalkeeper with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, his agent has said.

Turkish club’s director Erda Torunogullari  said “Karius has gone to FIFA over his unpaid wages and termination of his contract. He wants us to pay him for the months he hasn’t played. He wants to leave and that’s his decision. We don’t want to make an undeserved payment.”

The stopper’s agent, Florian Goll, has hit back at the suggestion from Besiktas that the payments in question only relate to the last month – and refuted claims his contract has already been cancelled.

Florian Goll said “I strongly condemn the fact that club representatives now want to portray Loris as a bogeyman. The reminded payments have absolutely nothing to do with the coronavirus crisis, even if the club likes to communicate that. We didn’t split up. Loris is still under contract with Besiktas.”

The 26-year-old is locked in a bitter row with loan side Besiktas after the Turkish club’s director Erda Torunogullari said he had lodged a complaint with FIFA over unpaid wages and was hoping to have his contract terminated.  Besiktas have allegedly refused to pay his wages while football has been suspended due to the coronavirus.
