Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United has filed a complaint with media standards organization accusing a British tabloid newspaper, the Sun, of having prior knowledge of the attack on Ed Woodward’s Cheshire home and of sending a reporter along with the fans who took part.

Manchester United said: “The Club believes that The Sun newspaper had received advance notice of the intended attack, which included criminal damage and intent to intimidate, and that the journalist was present as it happened, The quality of the images accompanying the story indicate that a photographer was also present.”

The Sun has acknowledged the complaint filed and has promised to cooperate with any investigation while confirming that one of their reporters was present at the venue after receiving a tip.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that the winter break will give his players the perfect opportunity to rest and recuperate before the season heads into its final straight. He feels that it has come at the right time, especially considering the injuries that his team has had in the last month or so.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “It’s important that English football got this break. Whenever it’s going to be I think it will benefit the players, benefit the teams and for us now we’ve had December and January really hectic with loads of games, nine in each of those months, so our players were stretched and yeah, it’s a good time for us now. Everyone’s got more or less their own individual programmes, so the ones who played less or are just returning from injury they’re doing a little bit more and of course the new signings it’s also a good time now for them to integrate into the group.”

Manchester United had terrible January month where they dropped to seventh in the league and went out of the league cup. They would be hoping to resurrect their league campaign and focus on the Europa League again once the winter break is over.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also hoped for that new loan signing Odion Ighalo would bring enthusiasm and personality to the group and praised his efforts to get fit during the winter break so that he can contribute to the team.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Of course, Odion will be a huge boose. We want players here who want to give everything they’ve got and Odion I know from before. He played in Norway and he’s got such a lovely personality, a great character and he’s going to come in and be a big, big boost for both himself, his family, his country, but also our group.”

Manchester United signed the Nigerian International from the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua on a five-month loan on deadline day.

Manchester United confirmed that their new signing Odion Ighalo will not travel to Spain for their winter break camp for the fear of border regulations tightening over the next few days over people who have traveled from China in the last few days.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: ” Odion will stay in Manchester, because he arrived from China in the last 14 days. Because of the situation in China, we’re not sure if he’d be allowed back into England if he leaves the country again, so he’s staying here working with a personal coach, individual programme and his family then can settle in England as well. Of course he might have liked to have come with the players and got to know them, but the risk [of potential border restrictions tightening], we don’t want to take that.”

Meanwhile Ighalo as already posted videos on his social media accounts of him training with the Great Britain Taekwando team as he aims to regain fitness and be ready for the action post the winter break.
