Leicester’s Zimbabwe striker Admiral Muskwe joins Swindon Town on loan. Admiral Muskwe has been given an opportunity to prove himself before he can break into the Leicester City first team after being loaned to English League Two table toppers Swindon Town until the end of the season.
Muskwe has come through the ranks at Leicester City’s Academy since first joining at the age of nine and has represented the club at Under-18s and Under-23s levels but is yet to break into the first team. This season, he has scored 10 goals in 19 appearances for Leicester City’s Development Squad, and will now take the next step in his progression by joining the League Two side, who currently sit two points clear at the top of the table after 30 games of the season.
Admiral Muskwe said: “I’m raring to go. I like the style of play here – it’s attacking and I think that will suit me. I’m just eager to get going and try and help the team.”
Admiral Muskwe’s arrival is a major boost to the League Two leaders, and he will hope he can not only fire them to promotion but also convince Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers that he’s ready to finally make his Premier League bow.
Brendan Rodgers insisted Leicester were the ‘better side over the two games’ and claimed they should have had a penalty after Trezeguet’s injury-time winner fired Aston Villa into the Carabao Cup final. Rodgers was unhappy as Leicester should have been awarded a penalty, but despite a VAR check, the officials at Stockley Park failed to spot Marvelous Nakamba’s blocking an effort from James Maddison with his hand.
Brendan Rodgers said “I thought we were excellent in the game. Their goalkeeper made some outstanding saves. We had a nice control in the game. I thought we should have had a definite handball for a penalty. By the end of the game I thought only one team looked like they were going to win it. I am gutted for the players. We were the better side over the two games. The players are hurting and will tomorrow as well. It’s tough to take looking back over the two games but congratulations to Aston Villa and we have to move on.”
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers believes losing in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup can give his players extra determination to succeed in their battle to finish ahead of Chelsea and Tottenham in the race for a top four finish. Brendan Rodgers believes his players can turn the negative into a positive.
Brendan Rodgers has talked up the importance of Leicester forward Kelechi Iheanacho. The Nigerian continued his remarkable scoring record this season with a seventh strike of the campaign in the 1-0 FA Cup win over Brentford on Saturday. It booked Leicester’s spot in the fifth round and was just Iheanacho’s 12th outing this term.
Brendan Rodgers said “He has worked very hard in training and knows he has the confidence of the coaching staff and everyone at the club. I also think it is natural and takes time. He made a big move, but hadn’t actually played a lot of football so for a young player, he needed games and confidence. It all stems from training. He has trained ever so hard and works so hard and now he has become really efficient where he is creating and scoring goals. It is brilliant for him because it was a difficult period when he came, but he is very much an important player for us.”
After moving to the King Power Stadium in the summer of 2017 for a reported fee of £25million, Iheanacho netted eight times in all competitions during his debut campaign. The 23-year-old found life much harder last season and finished the term with only two goals from 35 appearances. He endured a barren run of form which only ended at Luton in September when he found the net for the first time in 12 months and subsequently halted a run of 28 matches without a goal.
