Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder, who signed a new contract until 2024 in the build-up to the game against West Ham revealed his strategy to motivate Sheffield United players.

Chris Wilder said ” It’s a huge three points for the football club after the back-to-back defeats we had, even though it was Manchester City and Liverpool.I don’t like losing. We got beat at Manchester City and Liverpool, we made sure we don’t lose a third one. It’s the biggest three points of the season for us by a long shot as far as I’m concerned. To get to 32 points for us at this stage of the season is a great reward. We didn’t play great but the result is bigger than the performance. “

Wilder and Knill led the South Yorkshire side to the League One title in their first season at Bramall Lane before finishing second in the Championship last season to end the club’s 12-year exile from the top flight.

Oli McBurnie who got the winner against the Hammers admitted that Wilder doesn’t let the players have it easy. McBurnie commented further to say that it can be very hard at times under Wilder. Oli McBurnie said “The gaffer and staff have created something special and a lot of players have as well. So to see him and the staff rewarded and commit their futures is great for the boys and the club. Not easy! It can be tough at times but that’s sometimes what I need. He knows how to get the best out of players. He’s great at man-management and got the motivational side of it too”

Sheffield United owner, Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has insisted that he wants the club to continue to go forward after handing Chris Wilder a new deal. Plenty of pundits have called on some of the bigger Premier League clubs to take a look at Wilder this season. However, Prince Abdullah said it was never in doubt, and that he approached Wilder in the summer regarding a new deal.
