Contract talks between Chelsea and star youngsters Tammy Abraham and Reece James have stalled, as the club’s hopes of securing their most talented players to long-term deals hit a snag.
The reasons cited for the 2 talented players to not sign on better deals given from club is same for both players. Abraham, Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season, likely expects at least parity with Hudson-Odoi, who Chelsea offered £120,000-a-week in order to keep him from Bayern Munich’s clutches. Reece James, meanwhile, continues to grow in stature and expects a bumper deal with knowledge that Chelsea would be reticent to lose their homegrown talent.
Fikayo Tomoroi, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour have all signed new contracts in recent times, with Frank Lampard keen to build around this talented group of academy graduates. Abraham and James, whose contracts have two years remaining, are next on the list after a series of impressive displays this season.
