Weekend of biggest upsets that could not happen !!

[hr]

Liverpool scored twice in the final three minutes plus stoppage time at Villa Park to turn another losing position into a vital victory. On other end at Etihad Stadium, Kyle Walker volleyed in an 87th-minute winner to the champions’ relief and keep them on hunt for 3rd straight championship. It was an incredible weekend where upsets that could happen till late yet did not.

Pep Guardiola said on this “It happens a lot of time, Liverpool winning because of their talent.  If they win a lot of games in the last minutes, it’s because they are special characters. In the first season we won the title, we got 100 points and won four or five games in the last minute; last season we won more comfortably.  This (win) is like the first year.”

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: PREMIER LEAGUE FANS are reminded of the hey days of Manchester United when teams were afraid to defend in injury time and final minutes of the game. Most certainly they had in their heads that late but surely Sir Alex Ferguson’s men would turn draw into a win and loss into a draw. We are seeing the same with Liverpool this season.

What is Brighton’s next aim ?

[hr]

Neal Maupay was delighted with Brighton and Hove Albion’s 2-0 victory against Norwich City but there was also a part of him irritated by a couple missed opportunities.

Maupay had two opportunities to add to tally in the first half against Norwich – the first of which he dragged wide with his left foot and the second saw him blaze over the bar from close range.Maupay was also denied after the break as his instinctive effort was well saved by away keeper Tim Krul. However, his aim was next match against Manchester United.  He said “We have to start again, our next home game is Leicester so it’s a difficult match and before that we’ve got Manchester United”.

[hr]

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: PREMIER LEAGUE FANS are excited this season to see a disturbed top 4 , top 6 and mid table. None of the clubs leaving aside Liverpool and Manchester City are capable of winning easily. Any of the teams can upset one another and the table suggests same with Sheffield United, Leicester City, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace riding high above the usual clubs Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Spurs.

Southampton’s coach issues rally cry ?

[hr]

Ralph has issuing few guidelines for his team to follow to improve on what has been the worst week for the club, manager and players. They lost 0 – 9 at home to Leicester and twice to Manchester City.

Ralph Hasenhuttl wants Southampton to halt their dreadful home form by grinding out a “dirty win”. He does not want team to become over-reliant on the goals of in-form striker only. I would like to have three, four, five players that are always able to score and this is more important for the team normally. I’m not the manager who is really looking only on one guy who helps you because that means you are a little bit easier to read. It’s important that we also have other players that can score and we should bring them more in position where they can score”.

[hr]

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: PREMIER LEAGUE FANS have sympathy with the most forward looking club which has given many talented players and manager’s . They had biggest ever defeat in its 133-year history which was also the joint-largest margin of victory in Premier League history and the biggest-ever away victory in a top-flight league match. At the opposite end , Ralph has a tough task not only to streamline the performances of his players but also contain fury of the club board and its fans.

Wishing speedy recovery for Everton star Andre Gomes

[hr]

Everton’s Portuguese international Andre Gomes suffered a horrific injury which completely overshadowed his side’s battling 1-1 home draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League Sunday.

It was immediately clear that the injury was serious with South Korean star Son visibly upset even before he was belatedly shown the red card by referee Martin Atkinson. Aurier, who would have had a full view of the extent of the injury, was seen appearing to pray while other players could barely bring themselves to view what had happened. After receiving urgent medical treatment, with players from both sides comforting former Barcelona player Gomes as he lay on the field, he was stretchered off and taken to hospital.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino thanked Everton captain Seamus Coleman after he came into the Spurs dressing room to offer words of comfort to a distraught Son Heung-min. While Son was not to blame for the injury that looks certain to leave Gomes on the sidelines for a lengthy period, Coleman was one of the first players on the scene once the gravity of the injury became apparent.

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: PREMIER LEAGUE FANS have seen some horrific injury which has devastated careers and difficult to watch again. While we wish a speedy recovery and return to pitch for the talented Portuguese, its worth remembering few games and the players who went through similar circumstances – Petr Čech against Reading, Alf-Inge Haaland against Manchester United, Alan Smith against Liverpool, Gary Mabbutt against Wimbledon, Luc Nilis against Ipswich Town, David Busst against Manchester United, Hatem Ben Arfa against Manchester City , Aaron Ramsey against Stoke City and Eduardo Da Silva against Birmingham City.
