Chelsea striker Giroud unhappy at fringe role

The France striker cannot hide his frustration but insists he will always remain “respectful” of his manager. Olivier Giroud has said he “cannot accept” his current position outside Frank Lampard’s starting line-up at Chelsea – but he will not criticize the Blues boss. The 33-year-old striker has made just three Premier League appearances this term, including only one start, making it a frustrating time for him at Stamford Bridge, as it often was under former boss Maurizio Sarri in the last campaign.

Since making a switch from Arsenal to Chelsea in January 2018, Giroud has started just 14 Premier League games and scored five goals. He pointed out that he has outlasted the likes of Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain at the club, but indicated he is growing frustrated with the lack of reward for his longevity. Tammy Abraham has become Chelsea’s preferred central striker this term, with Giroud waiting for a chance of a run in the team. “It was not easy to leave Arsenal for Chelsea two years ago. I loved Arsenal. But it was a progression because Chelsea is the English club that has won the most titles, with Manchester City, in the last 10 years. I had competitors in attack – Morata, Higuain – who ended up leaving. I won in the end: I played the final of the FA Cup in 2018 and the Europa League final in 2019.

Giroud truly has outlasted other strikers in the club but he continues to remain at fringe… For how long…

Trent Arnold reflects on Liverpool’s playmaker and chance-creating role

Trent Alexander-Arnold has just turned 21 but has already made 98 appearances for Liverpool and became the youngest ever player to appear in consecutive Champions League finals. Tremendously talented and so vital on both sides of the ball, the irrepressible Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to prove what an indispensable member of Jurgen Klopp‘s brilliant side he is. Aside from using his wicked playmaking abilities in dangerous central areas, Alexander-Arnold underlapping runs on the inside of his winger have been another highlight. In doing so,  he has latched onto passes inside the box to fire in high percentage cutbacks into his attackers.

Jamie Carragher has clearly been impressed with the homegrown hero, who he believes should one day play in midfield, stating what a special player he already is while comparing his distribution to a certain Kevin De Bruyne. “He’s probably one of the best young players in the world if you think about what he has done,” Carra praised.

Clearly a Klopp’s blue eyed gem, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been chance-creating king who’s producing the goods emphatically on the attacking end. Premier League fans wish him all the best for his future.

Cresswell would be proud to end his career with West Ham

Aaron Cresswell a defender, was signed by Sam Allardyce in 2014, showed the quality to earn an England cap under Slaven Bilic, displayed his adaptability with David Moyes and now has adjusted again to play in Manuel Pellegrini’s free-flowing style.  Having spent three years as a professional with both Tranmere Rovers and Ipswich Town, Cresswell moved to West Ham United in 2014. Five years on, the left-back has lengthened his stay with the Irons. A two-year extension takes his contract to 2023 which would mean nine years in Claret and Blue.

Aaron Cresswell  said “When you’re at a club for this long, it’s special. Especially nowadays, things change a lot. To have a few more years here is always special. If I could finish my career off at West Ham, it would be a proud moment for me and my family. West Ham is moving in the right direction and the club is moving forward. The manager’s ideas, the way we’re playing football now, London Stadium, everything is good. For me, personally, to start at Tranmere and to move to Ipswich Town and then progress to West Ham, it’s been a fantastic journey. A few more years and I’m looking forward to the future ahead.”

The defender clearly feels loved at West Ham. Not only are manager’s career with clubs are short, also prolonged spells with just one club are becoming rarer and rarer in the modern game. Cresswell has no desire for change, and is very happy with life in east London

Can Marco Silva repeat his  International Break Remedy

Marco Silva and his Everton team are well and truly in the thickest of things right now. They are desperate to produce a series of strong performances and good results to break out of the hell.

Rewind back to mid-February 2019, Everton were coming out of a difficult winter period with three wins in all competitions going back New Year’s Day, and went into the February international break out of both Cups and having lost three straight games. Marco Silva would later say that the break came at a perfect time for the Blues to heal up, and for him to be able to implement changes in the zonal marking system he had in place that would then set a firmer foundation for the run-in to the end of the season.

As bad as things are looking right now, like we saw last season after February it just takes a couple of things to go a team’s way. But the big question is if things will get worse for Marco Silva before they get better, and in that case how long is the Board’s leash for the manager. Premier League fans have empathy for a manager but patience is in short with clubs and executive board these days.

Aaron Connolly tipped to have bright future in Premier League

19-year-old grabbed headlines for Brighton team with a double strike against Tottenham on his first premiership start. Connolly possesses more than just an eye for goal and is tipped to get under defenders’ skins. Connolly offers more than just goals – and has set the standard for others wishing to work their way into Graham Potter’s first team plans.

Connolly was man of the match against Tottenham and Premier League fans would wish him and other young boys best. Premier league truly is the best platform for kids with progressive attitude and hard working players similar to Aaron Connolly.
