West Ham United stole a point from Leeds United in the first fixture of the season. West Ham United denied Leeds United to get all three points despite trying very hard to score the goal in the second half.

Brian Deane was booked in the 25th minute for a foul on Alvin Martin. Enraged from a yellow card, Leeds United sent waves of attack but the West Ham United goalkeeper was up to the mark. He denied any chance for the Whites as the game remained 0-0 at half time. In the second half too, Leeds United tried hard to find the breakthrough. But West Ham United’s defense along with controversial decisions from referees denied three points for the Whites.

The game marked debut of Carlton Palmer for Leeds United who was signed from Sheffield Wednesday along with Nigel Worthington from Hillsborough.
