The big Sheffield derby fizzled out after a lightning start which produced two goals in five minutes. For once, glamour boys Wednesday began as the underdogs after their disastrous start to the season with just one win under their belts.

United drew first blood with seven minutes gone but Wednesday managed to bounce back with a Carlton Palmer equaliser five minutes later. A spectacular save from Pressman kept out Norwegian international Jostein Fio in the 68th minute as the Wednesday keeper palmed the big man’s header around the post.

And with only seconds to go Simon Tracy foiled Wednesday twice keeping out an Alan Poric shot and then denying Ryan Jones.
