Promoted Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan had thrown down a title challenge to newly crowned champions Manchester United. The old Trafford giants were not to be able to bask in their championship glory for long if Magpies boss Kevin Keegan had his way.
Kevin Keegan said “Tell Alex Ferguson we are on our way. This club belongs in the premier league. We have got to look at what Leeds did and aim to repeat that. You have always got to give yourself aims.”
Keegan also praised the efforts of his £1.7 million strikers Andy Cole who was crucial to Newcastle earning the promotion that year.
