Despite his illness, Ferguson was looking forward to the clash with twice cup finalists Wednesday in front of a full house. The United boss looked sure to steer clear of the dressing room and bench to avoid passing on the bug to his squad before easter monday’s visit to Coventry.

Alex Ferguson said “The players’ commitment could not be better and all the supporters have been marvelous. The platform is there for everyone to enjoy the game.”
