Merseyside’s tottering giants were set to fight it out at Anfield for a lifeline to premier league safety. Everton manager Howard Kendall knew exactly where the Liverpool threat lied. Ian Rush lead the Reds on a revenge mission following their 2-1 defeat at Goodison Park in December the previous year.
