A crushing 3-0 win for the canaries had put them back into the top spot and had given them their title hopes in their own hands. With matches against Manchester United and Aston Villa yet to be played, Norwich could become champions if they win all of their remaining matches. But their boss Mike Walker did not want to get into the title talk just as yet and played down the chances of his side.

Mike Walker said “They are trying to drag us into what they’ve called a two-horse race again. But I don’t attach too much significance to being top right now. We were eight clear earlier in the season. We are delighted to be in the contention and if we are there or thereabouts at the end of next month, it will be great. But it means nothing as of now. It certainly spices it all up and it is great for the speculative nature of it all.”
