QPR manager Trevor Francis was worried that championship clubs were spending millions of pounds on player recruitment and feared that a club like his would be “blown out of water” as the selling clubs would value their players higher. He also spoke about the need to strengthen their squad in order to continue competing in the league.

Trevor Francis said “I’ve spent just £160000 this season and I’m worried that recent events, with even First division sides spending millions on players, might put us out of the ball game price-wise as clubs will now value their players even higher. It would be a shame after such a good season to fall away through not having a strong enough squad. I’ll be having a chat with the chairman about signing a striker and a midfielder. We’ve got eight first-team players out at the moment and I think even Manchester United would have a problem with that.”
