Blackburn Rovers 2 Chelsea 0

A 2-0 defeat at Blackburn extended Chelsea’s dismal run without a win to 13 matches and gave the new manager Dave Webb plenty to ponder on his return to Stamford Bridge. Rovers’ £1.4 million strikers Mike Newell netted twice to live Kenny Dalglish’s men to fourth place and accelerate Chelsea’s alarming slide down the premier league table.

David Webb said “It’s glaring why we have gone so long without a win.”
