Alex Ferguson had pledged his loyalty to Manchester United for the rest of his footballing life. Linked with several lucrative and equally glamourous top managerial jobs abroad, Ferguson committed himself to an indefinite stay at Old Trafford.
Alex Ferguson said “When you are the manager of Manchester United you simply don’t think about leaving. I just don’t take speculation linking me to other jobs seriously. If I was with any club other than United it would be different. As it is, I am just not interested in leaving Old Trafford. I’m not short of ambition, but my dream is to break new frontiers with Manchester United. I have all I need here in Manchester”
