Sheffield Wednesday faced a fixture pile-up 10 days after the postponement of their Coca Cola cup quarter-final against Ipswich. The tie had been rearranging for January 10 and followed the postponement of the Sheffield Club’s FA Cup third-round tie at Cambridge. Wednesday will begin their backlog games with a home clash against Norwich on after which they will face Cambridge, Spurs away will be on the cards three days later before they play Ipswich away on 10th January. All of these fixtures were to be played within a period of 10 days. The only home game during this run was unlikely to be postponed regardless of the weather since the thaw and undersoil heating at Hillsborough would allow the game to go ahead regardless of the weather.
