Graeme Souness wants Liverpool to eliminate their “Sunday League” defending – and end 1992 the way they began it. The Reds boss winced at the errors made in their defeat Coventry and knows that Oldham could dish out similar punishment if they are repeated. Souness’ side travelled to Boundary Park on Boxing Day where, previous January, it achieved only one of two premier league wins outside Anfield this year – a record which desperately needs improving.
