Ken Monkou Kept Alan Shearer quiet as Southampton held Blackburn Rovers to a 1-1 Draw

A man of the match performance from Ken Monkou kept £3.6 million striker Alan Shearer quiet as Southampton and Blackburn shared Premier league points at the Dell. Despite keeping their ex prodigy quiet on his return to the south coast, Southampton manager Ian Branfoot, as well as Blackburn manager Kenny Dalglish both, gave Shearer their vote of confidence. Branfoot said “All strikers go three or four games without a goal. But players of Alan’s class will always score.” Dalglish said, “Alan is top of the premier league goal scorers and we are delighted for that.”

Manchester United was set to bid for Inter Milan striker Darko Pancev which would allow the Italian Side to get Roy Keane From Nottingham Forest

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson was set to bid for unsettled Inter Milan striker Darko Pancev and open a door to Italy for the Republic of Ireland ace Roy Keane. Milan had been tracking Keane for over a year but need to release one of their foreign players to get their man from Nottingham Forest. Milan had made it clear that they will outbid Manchester United, Arsenal and Seville from Spain to capture the biggest prize in English football.

Leeds were in talks with their Skipper Gary McAllister for a new three-year deal

Leeds were holding talks with their skipper Gary McAllister whose three-year contract was set to expire in a year’s time. Scottish international, Mcallister, 27, had been attracting attention from Glasgow Rangers but he was keen to stay at Elland Road and was understood to be seeking another three-year deal. He was a key member of the Leeds team that won the 1991 football championship in England.

Former England and Chelsea keeper Dave Beasant was back to Stamford Bridge after an impressive month on loan at Grimsby

Former England goalkeeper Dave Beasant was returning to Chelsea with his confidence restored after a successful month on loan at Grimsby. Now the former Newcastle keeper must see if he could regain favor at the west London club where he incurred the wrath of both management and crowd by making dreadful errors against Oldham and Norwich.
