Manchester United’s Peter Schmeichel eager to live up to “World’s Best” tag
Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel flew to Belfast determined to live up to his reputation as the world number one goalkeeper and put his country and club’s campaigns back on track going into the winter. Schmeichel earned his ‘world best’ tag with his inspired goal keeping as back door qualifiers Denmark swept to their stunning Euro Championship success in Sweden previous June. But he has found going tough for both his national and club sides this season. Both of them have been struggling to score goals and run a risk of missing out on silverware if the form did not take an upturn soon.

Arsenal’s David O’Leary wants to play well into his thirties
Arsenal veteran David O’Leary was following the footsteps of fellow premier league rivals and his international teammates, Gordon Strachan of Leeds and Kevin Moran of Blackburn as examples of players who could play well into their thirties having looked after their body and fitness. He hoped to emulate the pair and continue his career for many years to come and was also ambitious about Arsenal’s chances of competing for the premier league title considering the recent upturn in their fortunes.

Former Everton man Andy King criticized the current Premier League players as “Overpaid”
Former Everton legend Andy King criticized the modern way of thinking amongst premier league players and managers that overload of football was hampering the growth of the players and said that he felt that players in England worked too little to improve their game. He also called out Sheffield Wednesday manager Trevor Francis for his comments that the players were being overworked, he said “Down the years, I have never heard Liverpool complain once about the number of matches they played a season when they were winning one trophy after another. Footballers these days work for 12-15 hours a week, I won’t call them overworked, I call them overpaid! Is it any wonder supporters get annoyed when managers like Francis, suggest players are overworked! It’s a joke!”

Manchester City striker Nial Quinn was hopeful of closing the gap on league leaders Norwich
Manchester City striker Niall Quinn was hopeful that a run of four-five games without a defeat could allow his side to close the gap between the league leaders Norwich who were 8 points ahead of City then. He hoped that their most recent win over Leeds United signaled the end of their goal-scoring famine. He said “With the way results have been going, this is not as big a gap as it looks. You only have to look at Arsenal, to see how good run of four or five games without defeat can make a huge difference in your league placing.” He was looking forward to their next game against Coventry on the coming Saturday.
