In this blog series – “What Happened Today”, we are reviving some of the moments from past which will restore golden history of the best league in the world.

Papers in the UK covered the news of Leeds considering banning their away fans for their upcoming European Cup clash with Glasgow Rangers as well as the injury news across the premier league clubs before the upcoming set of matches after the international break.

Manchester United’s Lee Sharp continued his recovery from a six-month-long absence due to viral meningitis. He was set to play for their B team in a friendly to mark the opening of Chester’s new stadium at Bury.

Liverpool’s John Barnes was hoping to come back in time to face Everton in the Merseyside derby in one month’s time. Barners suffered a career-threatening Achilles injury earlier in the year.

Middlesborough’s horrible list of injuries increased further with top scorer Paul Wilkinson being the latest name on the list. With a number of players missing due to the international duty, manager Lennie Lawrence only had three regular first-team squad members available for training for the upcoming clash against Tottenham Hotspurs.

On the other hand, Everton manager Howard Kendell received a piece of triple good news on the injury front as Peter Beardsley was back in full training after being out of action for almost a month. Whereas Martin Keown and Snodin came through the Bruce Grobbelaar’s testimonial match and were now in contention to be back in the squad for the upcoming matches.
