In this blog series – “What Happened Today”,  we are going to revive some of the moments from past which will revive moments of the golden history of the league.

Sunday’s papers in the UK covered the premier league matches played on the previous day where Blackburn Rovers demolished the then leaders Norwich City 7-1, Aston Villa won a dramatic match away at Wimbledon thanks to a brace from Dean Saunders, United draw 1-1 with Middlesborough, Manchester City break their goal-scoring barren run but only manage a point against Nottingham Forest in a 2-2 draw and a dramatic late goal gave Arsenal the full three points against their London rivals Chelsea in a 2-1 victory.

Wimbledon 2 Aston Villa 3

Manchester United’s midweek clash in the European Cup was visible as they only managed to take a point against Middlesborough. In an entertaining and open game, Leeds United almost made a comeback in the game after being found three goals behind at the half time. Leeds did pull two goals back in the second half only for Ipswich to score a fourth and kill all hopes for the defending champions to get anything out of the game. John Wark scored twice for Ipswich.

Arsenal 2 Chelsea 1

Substitute Anders Limpar scored from his first touch of the game as Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 via a late goal at Highbury. Paul Merson struck for Arsenal before Dennis Wise equalized for the Blues. Arsenal missed a penalty earlier in the game and wasted multiple opportunities to put the game to bed before Chelsea came back into the match.
